Three school records set as Marietta women place 13th at All-Ohio Championships
Forman wins weight throw to become first female indoor champion in school history

MARIETTA, Ohio — While Head Coach Derek Stanley was disappointed in his team's overall finish, the Marietta College athletes that qualified for the 2007 All-Ohio Indoor Championships accounted for some noteworthy performances. Highlighting the competition, which ended with the 13 Lady Pioneers combining for 15 points and a 13th place finish, was senior Rachel Forman's (Heath) first place performance in the women's weight throw. Otterbein, which hosted the event, captured the men's title, earning 86 points. Mount Union's women cruised to its title, racking up 130 points. Marietta's men, which had just two qualifiers and two points, finished 19th.

Forman, who threw 42-04.00 (12.90m), became the first Marietta women to ever capture and individual title in the four-year history of the All-Ohio Championships.

In addition to Forman's historical day, two of her teammates set school records as did a relay team. Freshman Randi Robertson (Avon Lake) established a school record in the mile run, crossing the in ninth place with a time of 5:26.24. It was over 10 seconds faster than her previous best time.

Freshman Kaitlin Smith (Essex Junction, Vt.) improved her school record in the 5,000m run. Smith finished 14th with a time of 20:16.74, over six seconds better than her prior school record.

The Distance Medley Relay, which included Robertson, senior Brea Gardner (Somerset/Sheridan), sophomore Jessi Larrison (Batavia) and freshman Shannon McDonald (Lorain/Amherst Steele), also set a school record during its sixth place finish. The foursome combined to run 13:06.12, which is an 11-second improvement on the old school record.

Marietta's entire team returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 24) when the Pioneers host their final indoor meet of the season.
