women's tennis falls to Wilmington, 6-3
Carraher and McKiernan win at singles

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team
resumed its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schedule with a 6-3 loss
to visiting Wilmington Wednesday (March 28) inside the Dyson Baudo
Recreation Center. The match was the fifth in a seven-day stretch
for the Lady Pioneers, who fell to 1-4, 0-3 in league play. The
Quakers improved to 4-3, 1-0 in the OAC.
Sophomore Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson)
and freshman Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W.Va./
South) accounted for all three of Marietta's points Wednesday. The
duo combined to win at first doubles, 8-4, over Jennifer
Patrick and Andrea Gibson.
Carraher then improved to 4-1 at first singles with a 6-2, 7-5
victory over Gibson. McKiernan also won at second singles, 4-6,
6-4, 6-1, over Patrick. She is now 2-3 on the year.
Marietta returns to action Saturday (March 31), when it travels
to Heidelberg for a 1 p.m. match.
