Konsen named Academic All-OAC At-Large winner
Senior was given honorable mention in 2005

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference office announced the 2006 Academic All-OAC Men's At-Large winners Tuesday (May 9) and Marietta College senior tennis player Tomas Konsen (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) was named Academic All-OAC.

Konsen, a senior petroleum engineering major, carried a 3.60 grade point average into his final semester at Marietta College.

On the court, the 2005 Academic All-OAC honorable mention honoree, went 1-8 in singles action, seeing time mainly at third singles for the Pioneers (2-9). He also played first doubles all season. Konsen was named honorable mention All-OAC for his play as a freshman in 2003.

When not playing tennis, Konsen is active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He is also a member of Pi Epsilon Tau and Kappa Mu Epsilon, as well as the Dean’s List and Athletic Directors’ Honor Roll.

The academic award winners are selected by OAC faculty athletics representatives. 25 athletes, representing golf, swimming, tennis and wrestling, were selected. To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 GPA, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least his/her second year of participation in the sport.
