Otterbein wins 5-4 to snap Lady Pioneers' win streak at three matches

WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis suffered a 5-4 road loss against Otterbein Monday (Apr. 17) afternoon, snapping its three-game win streak.
With the loss, the Pioneers fell to 4-7 overall and 3-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Cardinals improved to 5-9, 3-4 in Conference play.
Marietta's Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Davidson) and Lauren Stermer (Ocala, Fla./Forest) picked up the team's lone point in doubles play with an 8-3 win at first doubles. The duo improved to 5-2 together on the year.
In addition, Carraher swept her first singles match (6-0, 6-0) and Stermer won her third singles match (6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (11-9). Elizabeth Smith (Vienna, W.Va./Parkersburg Catholic) also won her second singles match (6-1, 6-3).
Marietta will close out its regular season Wednesday (Apr. 19), when it visits Wilmington for a 3:30 p.m. match. |
