women win 8-1 on the road against Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team improved to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 8-1 road victory over Capital Tuesday (Apr. 11).
Marietta swept the double's matches against Capital (3-9, 1-5 OAC) and took every single's point except at fourth singles.
Freshman Amanda Carraher improved to 4-2 at first singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Sophomore Elizabeth Smith won at second singles (6-3, 7-5), senior Lauren Stermer earned the win at third singles (6-2, 6-2), junior Katie Chadwell was victorious at fifth singles (6-4, 6-3) and freshman Britanny Saunier won at sixth singles (6-3, 6-2).
Carraher and Stermer teamed up to win at first doubles, 8-5. Smith and sophomore Justine Pagenhardt won at second doubles, 8-6. Chadwell and Saunier took the third single's point with an 8-5 win
Marietta returns to action Thursday (Apr. 13) when it plays host to Heidelberg at 3:30 p.m. |
