Marietta College men and women fall to John Carroll in 2006 tennis openers
Men downed 7-0, Women lose 8-1

MARIETTA, Ohio - The 2006 tennis season kicked off for the Marietta College men and women's programs Saturday (Mar. 4), when Ohio Athleic Conference (OAC) foe John Carroll University traveled down to the Beren Tennis Center for a doubleheader before its continued south for spring break.
The women battled first, with the Blue Streaks (4-0, 1-0 OAC) coming away with an 8-1 victory. Sophomore Justine Pagnehardt, fresh off a successful women's basketball season, picked up the lone point for the Pioneers (0-1, 0-1 OAC). Pagenhardt won her sixth singles match 8-6.
The men's team took the court next and Marietta (0-1, 0-1 OAC) was unable to win a point, falling 7-0 to John Carroll (2-1, 1-0 OAC).
Marietta's women will return to action Thursday (Mar. 16) when it visits Malone for a 12 p.m. match. The Pioneer men will play the following day, Friday (Mar. 17), when Thiel (Pa.) visits the Beren Tennis Center for a 4 p.m. match.
