Reisdorph named Women's Soccer Coach

MARIETTA, Ohio — Elke Reisdorph has been hired as Marietta College's new women's soccer coach. Athletics Director Larry Hiser made the announcement Tuesday (April 19) afternoon.

Reisdorph becomes the seventh head coach in the 25-year history of the program. She spent the last two seasons as an assistant at NCAA Division I Cornell University. This past fall, the Big Red posted their best record overall and finish in the Ivy League since 2005.

"I would like to thank Mr. Larry Hiser for the opportunity to be the head women's soccer coach here at Marietta College," Reisdorph said. "I feel that the academics, athletics department and the entire Marietta community provide an excellent environment that is supportive in building a successful collegiate program. I look forward to working with such an amazing and passionate group of young women, who will be the foundation in building an elite soccer program."

Prior to joining Cornell, Reisdorph spent the 2008 season as an assistant coach at Binghamton University and the 2007 season as an assistant coach at Hartwick College. Reisdorph's coaching career began with a two-year stint at Kenyon College, where the Ladies won 10 games in 2004 and 2005 and advanced to the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament for the first time.

Reisdorph has also served as a head coach on the club level with the Virginia Rush and BC United Fusion. She coached the Virginia Rush U-14 team to the Virginia State Cup semifinals in 2002 after leading the squad to the quarterfinals the previous season. With BC United, she served as the head coach for the U-18 team. Reisdorph has also worked camps at Cornell, Dartmouth, Ohio State, Hartwick and Christopher Newport.

"Elke really distinguished herself from a strong candidate pool," Hiser said. "She is experienced in all facets of coaching and total program management. She displayed the ability to genuinely connect with all of our campus groups, especially the players and her future co-workers on the coaching staff. We are excited to welcome Elke to the Marietta College family."

Reisdorph played collegiately at Christopher Newport University, where she was a four-year starter and captain. She was a two-time All-USA South first team selection and a two-time All-South Region honoree. Reisdorph helped guide CNU to its first NCAA tournament berth in 2000 and the Conference title that same season. In 2005, Reisdorph was named to the USA South Conference 25th Anniversary Team.

Reisdorph, who sports a National Soccer Coaches Association of America National License, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Studies: Recreation, Sports and Wellness Management from Christopher Newport in 2002.
