MARIETTA, Ohio — The American Baseball Coaches Association announced its regional Gold Glove Award winners Tuesday (May 25) evening and Marietta College had two of the nine representatives on the Mideast Region's Gold Glove Team. Senior catcher #
Dan Jones (Lima/Shawnee)# and junior outfielder #
John Snyder (Altoona, Pa./Altoona)# received the honor and will advance to the national ballot.
Jones, a two-time All-OAC selection, earned All-Mideast Region second team recognition for the first time in 2010. The four-year starter batted .373 (53-for-142) in 43 games, which ranked fourth on the squad this season. Jones, who had a 25-game hit streak during the year, finished with 10 doubles, two home runs, 31 runs scored and 24 RBI. He has also fielded .997 and threw out 13 of 28 attempting to steal a base this spring.
Snyder, an All-OAC first team pick, anchored the middle of the lineup and the center of the outfield and was named All-Mideast Region second team in 2010. He led the Pioneers with a .412 batting average in 49 games. Snyder, who posted a 30-game hitting streak during the season, collected 51 hits, including a team-high 19 doubles to go along with three triples and three home runs, in 187 at-bats. He added 51 runs scored and 50 RBI. Snyder also converted 97 chances defensively without making an error.

Brian Brewer, four-time NCAA Division III National Champion (1981, 1983, 1986, 2006) Marietta College (36-13, 13-5 OAC) finished as the OAC regular season, OAC Tournament and Mideast Regional Tournament runner-up for a second straight season in 2010.
