MARIETTA, Ohio — Five former Pioneer student-athletes representing different programs from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s will be inducted into the
Marietta College Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the 28th class on Feb. 5, 2011.
The ceremony will once again highlight the Winter Weekend festivities.
This year's inductees are two-time Dad Vail gold medalist
Tom Feaster '69, All-American sprinter
Tom Moss '87, All-American offensive guard
Chad Coning '97, two-time All-American and Academic All-American pitcher
Dave Bradley '99 and All-American rower
Mary Kunes '99.
The Hall of Fame Banquet, which takes place Saturday evening in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center, caps off a busy weekend at Marietta College that includes a track & field meet as well as a men's and women's varsity basketball game. It also features alumni game for men's and women's basketball and volleyball.

Tom Feaster
Class of 1969
Men's Rowing
Feaster, a three-year lettermen, was a member of the men's crew from 1966-69 and served as a captain during his senior season. As a freshman, he rowed in the six-seat and helped lead the Freshmen/Novice Heavyweight Eight to an undefeated season and a gold medal at the 1966 Dad Vail Rowing Championship. As a sophomore, he stepped into the same seat on the Varsity Heavyweight Eight, which posted its second straight undefeated season and defended its gold medal with another victory at the Dad Vail Championship. The 1967 team also went on to row at the Ratzeburg Germany Regatta and the Henley on Thames Royal Regatta. With his induction, Feaster will join three of his 1967 teammates—
Bill Burnham '67 (Class of 1994),
Terry Morris '69 (Class of 2001) and
Dave Nystrom '67 (Class of 2002)—in the Hall of Fame.
Feaster, a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity, graduated with a bachelor's degree in Social Science in 1969. He later earned his Master's of Education from the University of Tampa. Feaster has remained in the sport after college and coached national championship crews at Marietta High School, The Sanford Naval Academy and the University of Tampa. He is a former delegate to the United States Olympic Committee and member of the Board of Directors for the United States Rowing Association. Feaster was inducted into the Sea Isle Beach Patrol Hall of Fame in 2009. He spent 14 years as a corporate real estate executive and as an educator at both the scholastic and collegiate level. Feaster is highly involved in the community of Tampa, Fla., and was the Chair of the Decorations Committee for Super Bowl XXXV. He is also the President of the Stewards Foundation.
Tom Moss
Class of 1987
Track & Field
Moss, a four-time national qualifying and eight-time All-Conference sprinter, was a member of the track & field team from 1985-88 after playing basketball as a freshman in 1984. As a junior, Moss finished runner-up in 200m Dash and took third in the 100m Dash at the OAC Outdoor Championship. He then won the 400m Dash at the 1987 OAC Indoor Championship before taking runner-up in the 200m Dash and third in the 100m Dash for a second straight year at the 1987 OAC Outdoor Championship. Moss went on to place fifth in the 400m Dash at the 1987 NCAA Outdoor Championship to earn All-America honors. He then returned as a fifth-year senior to garner All-OAC honors in three more events; he won the 300m Dash and took runner-up in the 400m Dash at the 1988 OAC Indoor Championship and won the 100m Dash at the 1988 OAC Outdoor Championship. During his time with the Pioneers the four-year letterman set eight school records and still holds the top marks in the indoor 300m and 400m dashes as well as the outdoor 200m and 400m dashes.
Moss, who graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering, has worked in the blood banking/cord blood banking field for more than two decades. After spending time with Viacell, Inc., the Hoxworth Blood Center of the University of Cincinnati and the New York Blood Center, he is currently the Vice President of the CORD:USE Cord Blood Bank in Orlando, Fla. Moss lives in Winter Garden, Fla., with his wife

Chad Coning
Class of 1997
Football
Coning, a four-year letterman, was a member of the football team from 1993-96. He began his career as a defensive end before switching over to right guard on the offensive line for the final game of his freshman season. Coning remained in the position for the rest of his career and helped lead the blocking schemes for a pair of Hall of Fame running backs—
Curt Weikart '96 (Class of 2007) and
Dante Brown '98 (Class of 2009). Running behind Coning, Weikart led the OAC in rushing in 1994 and again in 1995 when the Pioneers finished with an 8-1-1 record and a top-10 ranking in the final national poll. In 1996, Brown ran for a NCAA all divisions record 441 yards against Baldwin-Wallace as Marietta produced the league's top rusher for a third straight season. Coning, who earned All-OAC first team honors in each of his final three years, also received All-North Region first team and All-America second team honors as senior captain. Following the season, Coning also captained his All-Star team at the National Classic. In 2000, Coning was inducted into the Marietta Football Wall of Fame.
Coning, a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, graduated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1997. He has worked internationally and is currently a Drilling Engineer for Chevron in Perth, Australia. He lives in Australia with his wife

Dave Bradley
Class of 1999
Baseball
Bradley, the 1999 GTE Academic All-American of the Year, was a three-year lettermen and four-year member of the Etta Express from 1996-99. The right-hander earned both All-America and Academic All-America honors as a junior and again as a senior. Bradley, a three-time Academic All-OAC selection, also garnered back-to-back Kent Tekulve OAC Pitcher of the Year awards in 1998 and 1999. As a senior, he won an OAC and NCAA Division III record 18 games and led Marietta to a fifth place finish in the World Series. Bradley, a member of four OAC Championship and two Mideast Championship squads, finished the 1999 season with 134 strikeouts in 120 2/3 innings, which at the time ranked second and third, respectively, on Marietta's single-season list. He graduated with 262 strikeouts and 36 victories, which ranked third in school history, and his 36 wins rank fourth all-time in the OAC.
Bradley, a Mathematics major, became the second Marietta male to win the OAC's Clyde A. Lamb Award and also received the Way-Weigelt Award in 1999. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 14th round of the 1999 draft and played eight seasons of professional baseball. Bradley was named a Frontier League All-Star in 2003 and a Southern League (Class-AA) All-Star in 2005. He is currently an Insurance Agent with the Western & Southern Financial Group and lives in Mineral Wells, W.Va., with his wife

Mary Kunes

Women's Rowing
Kunes, the first female rower to be inducted into the Marietta Athletics Hall of Fame, was a four-year lettermen with the women's crew from 1996-99. The Pioneers were the top-ranked team in the Central Region in each of her final three seasons. As a freshman, Kunes was part of the Varsity Lightweight Eight that made the finals of the 1996 Dad Vail Rowing Championship. She then moved on to the Varsity Heavyweight Eight, which made the 1997 Dad Vail finals and then finished sixth in the 1998 event. As a senior, the co-captain led the Varsity Eight to victories in the Atlantic Collegiate League Sprints and Mid-America Collegiate Rowing Association Championship as well as its first and only appearance in the NCAA Championship. In 1999, Kunes also became the first women's rower to earn All-America honors.
Kunes, an Accounting major, went on to win the Betty Cleland Award as a senior. Following graduation, the USRowing Level III certified coach led the Greater Dayton Rowing Association for five years. During that time, the club made three appearances in the USRowing Youth National Championship. Kunes is currently a Senior Consultant for IBM Global Business Services in Dayton, where she lives with her husband
