Marietta's Carraher named Academic All-OAC At-large in 2009

Senior finished career with record of 40-5

Senior Amanda Carraher was named Academic All-OAC At-large in 2009.
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced the 2009 Women's At-Large Academic All-OAC winners Monday (May 18). Senior tennis standout Amanda Carraher (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) (Hilliard/ Hilliard Davidson) was among the student-athletes to receive the award.

The OAC faculty representatives selected the award winners. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average, be a key starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport. The women at-large winners consist of student-athletes from the sports of golf, swimming, diving and tennis.

Carraher is a four-time All-OAC first team selection. Carraher finished her senior season with an 11-1 record at first singles. Her 8-1 record during OAC play was the best among players at first singles. Carraher's collegiate record of 40-5 makes her arguably one of the best tennis players in Marietta history.

In addition to her outstanding performance in first singles, Carraher teamed up with junior Lauren McKiernan (Parkersburg, W. Va./South) (Parkersburg, W. Va./South) to finish the season with an 8-5 record at first doubles.

Carraher, a Psychology major, maintained a 3.72 grade point average during her four years at Marietta. The three-time Academic All-OAC At-large winner was also a two-time selection to the Academic All-OAC Women's Basketball team.
