Hahn's performance against Muskingum earns him OAC Defensive Player of the Week honors
Junior linebacker made 11 stops and scored on an interception

Oct. 9, 2006
MARIETTA, Ohio — The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) released its weekly awards late Monday (Oct. 8) afternoon and Marietta College's junior linebacker Brian Hahn (Upper Sandusky) was honored as the Defensive Player of the Week. He is the third Pioneer to receive recognition from the League for his play in 2006.

Hahn, a leader of the defense, paced the Pioneers (3-2, 2-2 OAC) with 11 tackles in their 30-10 victory over rival Muskingum Saturday (Oct. 7). Two of the middle linebacker's tackles were for a loss, including a sack for 11 yards.

Hahn's biggest contribution, however, came in the fourth quarter, when he picked off a Muskie pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown to erase any doubt about a Muskingum comeback. For Hahn, it was his first interception of the year and second of his career.

On the year, Hahn leads the team and is tied for second in the OAC with 42 tackles. He is also second in tackles for a loss with 7.5. Nationally, Hahn is ranked 84th in tackles and 68th in tackles for a loss.

Marietta will look for its fourth win of the year when it welcomes John Carroll (1-4, 1-3 OAC) to Don Drumm Stadium for a 1:30 p.m. Homecoming game Saturday (Oct. 14). The Blue Streak, who have never lost to the Pioneers (17-0-1), are coming off a 24-21 loss to No. 4 Capital.

All of the action can be heard locally on WMRT-FM 88.3, WMOA-AM 1490 and online, through Stretch Internet, at pioneers.marietta.edu/onlinebroadcasts.
