Sidick to play in 2008 Frontier League All-Star Game
Washington Wild Thing will have Bobble Head Night on July 27

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Former Marietta College baseball and football standout Chris Sidick '05, a member of the Washington Wild Things, was recently selected to participate in the Frontier League’s 16th annual All-Star Game.
The annual mid-season game, which pits the East Division against West Division, will be played at Wuerfel Park in Traverse City, Michigan, on Wednesday July 16, 2008, at 7:05 p.m. [All-Star Announcement]
The Washington Wild Things have also announced that Sunday July 27, 2008, will be Chris Sidick Bobble Head Night. The first 1,000 fans through the gate for the 6:35 p.m. match-up with the Chillicothe Paints will receive a Chris Sidick Bobble Head, courtesy of Alberts Meats.
Sidick, a Cecil, Pa., native, is in the midst of his fourth season with the Wild Things. As of July 6, the center fielder was batting .305 (51-for-167). Sidick, who will make his first trip to the mid-season All-Star Game but was named an end-of-season All-Star in 2006, is tied for the team lead in hits with 51 and home runs with five while also leading in triples with four and runs scored with 32.
A two-time NCAA Division III All-American and Jack Rafeld Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Sidick led Marietta in batting average (.384), slugging percentage (.768), on-base percentage (.500), runs scored (55), triples (7), home runs (12), total bases (116), walks (32) and stolen bases (26) in 2005. He was also second on the team in hits (58) and RBI (40) during his senior season.
On the football field, the All-North Region kick return specialist, who also made an impact on both offense and defense during his time of the field, graduated as the NCAA Division III career leader in kick returns (106) and kickoff return yards (2,235). |
